You’re Invited to a Cookie Exchange Party

My teenaged daughter hosted a cookie exchange party the other day. The younger generation has picked up some of our fun ideas! It was neat to hear the girls laughing and talking as they swapped cookies and shared recipes. They were also experiencing some important things about gift giving.

Cookie Exchange How To: Arrive with the same cookie (6-12 per guest). Depart with a variety of cookies. YUM!

The idea of sharing our gifts of cooking and baking skills has included cookie swaps like this one, pot-luck meals where we each bring a favorite dish to share, and often share the recipe as well; and now, most recently, soup sharing. Each participant arrives with a large container of a favorite homemade soup and several small empty containers. Each person takes home a small container of each soup offered and recipes for each.

All of these are gifts exchanged, that really give from ourselves, from our own gifts and talents, shared with friends—often at holiday time, but wonderful at any time.

I’ve included a few recipes to make – they are good for you too.
